Range baffles

Ceiling Baffles are the primary overhead safety components of a shooting range baffle system. Installed at strategic intervals above the firing line and extending downrange toward the bullet trap, they intercept misdirected rounds before they can strike the range ceiling or other overhead structures.

When a projectile impacts the baffle, the system absorbs and disperses its kinetic energy, reducing the bullet’s velocity and safely directing it into the controlled impact area. This greatly lowers the chance of rounds leaving the designated firing area while protecting critical range infrastructure and supporting a safer live-fire training environment. As an integral part of a shooting range baffle design, ceiling baffles provide reliable overhead protection for military, law enforcement, and commercial shooting ranges.

Rubber Baffles are designed to further enhance shooting range safety via incorporating high-density rubber panels that increase the system’s ability to safely stop projectiles while greatly decreasing the risk of ricochets. This additional energy absorption helps create a safer live-fire training environment for shooters, instructors, and range personnel. Ideal for military, law enforcement, and commercial shooting ranges, rubber baffles are often used in shooting range baffle designs that prioritise ricochet reduction and enhanced projectile containment.

Bare Steel Baffles are made from superior-grade AR steel plates and are installed at strategic locations throughout the ceiling area of the shooting range. Made to resist repeated projectile impacts, they provide reliable overhead protection in demanding live-fire training situations. Rather than absorbing projectiles, bare steel baffles are engineered to safely redirect misdirected rounds toward the bullet trap, helping contain projectiles within the designated firing area while protecting the range structure and decreasing the risk of rounds leaving the range.

Light Guard Baffles are specifically designed to protect lighting fixtures, walls, pipes, columns, ventilation systems, and other overhead infrastructure within the shooting range. Manufactured from purpose-designed steel plates, they provide targeted protection for vulnerable ceiling-mounted equipment that could otherwise be damaged by misdirected rounds.

Theissen Range Baffles are manufactured using a combination of AR steel, wood, and optional high-density rubber or acoustical tiles, depending on the application and shooting range requirements. This material combination provides an effective balance of durability, projectile containment, ricochet reduction, and acoustic performance for military, law enforcement, and commercial shooting ranges.

The steel components are manufactured from top-quality AR steel, selected for its outstanding hardness and impact resistance. Depending on the project requirements, panels are available in AR225 and AR500 steel grades to provide the appropriate level of ballistic protection and long-term durability.

Range Baffle panels are available in multiple sizes and thicknesses to match multiple shooting range baffle designs and ballistic requirements. Available options include 3/16" AR225, 1/4" AR500, 3/8" AR500, and 1/2" AR500, allowing the system to be configured for a wide variety of military, law enforcement, and commercial shooting ranges.
