Ballistic walls

Theissen Ballistic Walls are a modular ballistic wall system designed to create safe, flexible, and realistic environments for live-fire Close-Quarter Battle (CQB) training. Built as self-supporting ballistic wall panels, the system allows military and law enforcement organizations to quickly configure training areas while safely separating simultaneous live-fire exercises. Made to withstand repeated ballistic impacts and attacks utilizing kinetic breaching tools, the modular wall system provides outstanding durability for demanding training contexts. Whether used to construct temporary shoot houses or permanent shooting range walls, Theissen Ballistic Walls deliver a flexible solution that can be adapted to a wide variety of CQB training scenarios.

Why Choose Theissen Ballistic Walls

Designed for Close-Quarter Battle (CQB) Training

Theissen Ballistic Walls are specifically designed to create safe, configurable environments for live-fire Close-Quarter Battle (CQB) training. Such modular design permits instructors to quickly configure realistic room layouts, corridors, entry points, and training scenarios that emulate real-world environments. By facilitating simultaneous training activities while maintaining safe separation between live-fire areas, the Ballistic Wall System provides a broad range of military and law enforcement CQB exercises, from basic room-clearing drills to advanced tactical training.

Flexible Multi-Room Training Settings

The modular Ballistic Wall System allows instructors to quickly create multi-room layouts that replicate realistic tactical environments for live-fire Close-Quarter Battle (CQB) training. Walls can be arranged to form rooms, corridors, entry points, intersections, and other tactical layouts, enabling a wide variety of scenario-based training exercises. The flexible configuration allows training situations to be reconfigured as operational requirements change, providing military and law enforcement organizations with a multifunctional solution for both routine qualification and advanced tactical training.

Rapidly Reconfigurable Wall Elements

The modular Ballistic Wall System consists of interchangeable wall elements that can be quickly rearranged to create new room layouts and tactical environments. This allows instructors to modify training scenarios free of permanent construction, supporting a virtually unlimited range of Close-Quarter Battle (CQB) exercises. By rapidly adapting the training environment to different mission objectives, the system enables military and law enforcement organizations to conduct more varied, realistic, and repeatable live-fire training.

Integrated Door and Window Breaching

The Ballistic Wall System can be equipped with dedicated door and window entry frames that enable realistic breaching and room-entry training. These specialized wall elements allow military and law enforcement personnel to practice dynamic entry techniques, room clearing, and tactical movement in a controlled live-fire environment. Designed to support repeated training exercises, the entry frames provide a realistic platform for developing breaching procedures and close-quarter battle (CQB) tactics while continuing the flexibility of the modular wall system.

Customized for Your Training Requirements

Every training facility has individual operational objectives and space requirements. Theissen Ballistic Walls are available in a variety of configurations which can be adjusted to specific training goals, facility layouts, and tactical scenarios. Whether developing a compact shoot house, a large-scale Close-Quarter Battle (CQB) training facility, or a specialized live-fire training environment, our team cooperates closely with customers to design a Ballistic Wall System that meets their operational-level, safety, and training requirements.

Self-Supporting Modular Construction

Theissen Ballistic Walls feature a durable, self-supporting design that eliminates the need for permanent structural attachment, allowing the system to be installed and reconfigured with greater flexibility. This makes it appropriate for both temporary training facilities and permanent live-fire CQB installations. Engineered for intensive military and law enforcement training, the durable wall elements provide lasting stability and stable performance while maintaining the flexibility of a modular Ballistic Wall System.

Fast Installation and Reconfiguration

The modular Ballistic Wall System is designed for efficient installation and simple reconfiguration, allowing training facilities to quickly adapt layouts for different exercises and operational requirements. The self-supporting wall elements simplify assembly while reducing interference with ongoing range operations. Whether creating a new CQB training environment or modifying an existing layout, the system enables instructors to efficiently prepare realistic training events with minimal time and effort.

Ballistic Wall System Components

Wall and Entry Elements

The Ballistic Wall System is built from modular wall and entry elements that can be combined to create a wide variety of Close-Quarter Battle (CQB) training situations. Wall panels form rooms, corridors, intersections, and other tactical layouts, allowing instructors to replicate realistic mission scenarios for military and law enforcement training.

Dedicated entry panels integrate flawlessly with the wall elements and incorporate door and window entry frames for breaching and room-clearing exercises. Together, these modular components allow training facilities to quickly configure, expand, or modify live-fire environments to meet changing operational and training requirements.

Ballistic protection

Theissen Ballistic Walls are engineered to provide reliable ballistic protection during demanding live-fire training. The wall panels are constructed using armored steel and are finished with either 18 mm Polyboard or plywood to help minimize the risk of ricochets. Critical structural components, including the gearbox base, are bullet-resistant, while exposed vertical surfaces are protected with anti-ricochet plastic wood.

The system has been rigorously tested and approved for use at impact angles ranging from 20° to 90° and is certified for a variety of commonly used military and law enforcement ammunition.

Important: Ballistic wall panels are designed to provide ballistic protection and safely contain projectile impacts, but they are not intended to function as bullet traps. Targets should not be positioned directly in front of the panels unless an appropriate portable bullet trap is installed behind the target.
  • 9 mm (ball) L31A1/SX2 at a speed of 365 m/s (±10)
  • 5.56 mm L15A2/L17A2 at 970 m/s (±10)
  • 7.62 mm L44A1 at 830 m/s (±10)
  • Shotgun (Entry) L8A5/L8A6 at 345 m/s (±10)

Assembly and Installation

The modular Ballistic Wall System is designed for fast, secure, and repeatable assembly in a wide variety of training contexts. Individual wall panels and entry elements are connected using an engineered lug system that provides excellent stability while handling minor floor irregularities through a half-lap joint design.

Multiple connection methods—including straight, 90-degree, three-way, and four-way joins—allow instructors to construct a wide range of room layouts and tactical configurations. Infill Posts, Spacer Posts, Corner Posts, End Posts, and Stay Blocks provide additional locking, stability, and structural support, making sure the wall system stays stable even in more complex layouts or where wall sections terminate.

For better installation accuracy, an optional laser carriage unit can be used to position and verify the perpendicular alignment of wall elements, helping secure precise and repeatable assembly across the entire training environment.

Frequently asked questions

Ballistic Walls are modular protective wall systems designed to create safe and realistic environments for live-fire Close-Quarter Battle (CQB) training. Unlike conventional partitions, ballistic walls are made to withstand ballistic impacts while separating rooms, corridors, and training areas, allowing military and law enforcement personnel to conduct realistic tactical exercises in a controlled environment.

Theissen Ballistic Walls feature a modular design that enables instructors to quickly configure and reconfigure training layouts to simulate alternative scenarios. Whether constructing shoot houses, breaching areas, or complex multi-room facilities, the system provides reliable ballistic protection while supporting safe, flexible, and repeatable live-fire training.

Ballistic wall panels are the primary structural elements of a modular Ballistic Wall System. They are used to construct rooms, corridors, entry points, intersections, and other tactical environments for live-fire military and law enforcement training. The modular design permits individual panels to be combined in numerous configurations, creating realistic training settings that closely replicate working conditions.

The panels integrate flawlessly with dedicated door and window entry frames, allowing instructors to incorporate breaching exercises, room-clearing drills, and scenario-driven CQB training into the same modular system. This enables facilities to adapt their training settings to changing operational requirements without permanent construction.
